Documentary Photography

I found this film " 25 Years of Panos Pictures" to be totally engaging. It presents documentary photography as I hope it is and will continue to be.

Love that photo at 4:35. Fantastic when one member of an otherwise-preoccupied group makes eye contact with the photographer.

Very interesting. Lots of good material and also a little b.s. here and there. But mostly very, very good.

I still haven't warmed up to the idea of that 'taking images off google maps, cropping them and then exhibiting them as my own work' craze at the moment. Does that last photographer actually feel proud about what he has done, or rather hasn't done? That is regardless of the quality of the photo. I don't think recognizing a good photo should qualify you as a good photographer.

Perhaps it is more about concept? Also, perhaps they don't think of themselves as photographers...
