Rodinol with which 100/125 Film?

A prior thread said that Agfa 100 in Rodinol was great. I assume I have to forget Agfa these days. If, for a variety of reasons, I'm stuck having my film developed in Rodinol, which 100 or 125 films go particularly well with Rodinol, and which go particularly unwell with it?

I only just recently order 3 rolls of APX100 in 100' rolls. Only 1 roll was backordered, and it was shipped today.

I would just suggest stocking up a few bulk rolls.

Otherwise, I've also been using Ilford FP4+ with Rodinal, since it's easily available around here.

Ilford FP4 is excellent in Rodinol, also discontinued Kodak Plus-X. Buy a 100' roll and roll your own film into canisters. Cuts the cost by $2-$3 per roll of 36.

Fomapan 100 is great in Rodinal.

Most medium- and slow-speed films develop well in Rodinal. Check the Massive Dev Chart for times and, also, suggested starting points for iso. Shooting a 125 iso film at iso 80 is often recommended to preserve good shadow detail in Rodinal.

Tests we did in school years showed Ilford FP4 in Rodinal best at ISO 80. Best shadow detail, workable highlights, most of my prints, though, needed to be printed with #3 and #4 multigrade filters.

I hope they keep making Rodinal.

My experiences of good combinations (120)

Delta 100 Professional in 1+50
Efke 100 in 1+100
Fuji Acros in 1+100
(all exposed at box speed)

And, even though it's not in your speed range, I've just tried 35mm Neopan 1600 (shot at 1600) in 1+50 - I am very impressed. I was expecting grain the size of a house, but first impressions are really good.

If you are really looking for a replacement of APX 100 in combination with Rodinal, try Fomapan 100 - almost indistinguishable, even in direct comparison.
As others have said, FP4+ and Efke 100 also work well with Rodinal.

Okay, thanks for responses. I'm leaning toward Fomapan 100. J&C Photo will mail-order it to me. I'm now in southern California. Any place closer/better than J&C?

I was eight years old. My father is the police officer on the far left. I walked over to the Police Department in Flagstaff, AZ to meet my Dad when he got off his shift, about 4:30PM. The week before he and the other three officers went to Phoenix to compete in the annual police shooting competetion. They took first place in every category. Anyway, when I got to the PD, a photographer from the local newspaper was taking this picture. He asked me if I'd like to go with him to the darkroom to develop the film and make some prints. My Dad said it was fine with him, so away I went. My undying passion for all things photographic started on that day. I was not just fascinated by the process... the photographer coached me through everything. I remember that little bottle of Rodinol he kept in the cabinet and he told me it was a bottle of magic from Germany. The camera was a Speed Graphic with a rangefinder (my first introduction) and we shot Plus-X 4 x 5 sheet film. I still have this negative.
