This is one of the times in my life that I feel quite inadequate and even, OK I'll say it, somewhat stupid.
The problem has been solved, but not in the way I'd thought.
@ Tom - I tried your solutions and nothing worked. But it was very helpful learning about the Disk Utility in case I need it in the future.
@ jon - I tried your suggestion, but that didn't work either.
@ thegman - It was your suggestion as follows that solved the problem:
Does the laptop have a tiny little hole by the CD drive? If so, you can push a uncurled paper clip in there to manually eject the drive.
I lifted the computer to see if there was a tiny little hole by the CD drive. There was no tiny little hole. However, in the process of lifting the computer, I saw that the Precision Photo CD I'd thought was in the drive, was laying underneath the computer!!
It must have fallen underneath the computer when I tried to put it in the drive. So I picked it up, put it in the drive and uploaded my images successfully to my computer. Problem solved!
Thanks all for your suggestions!
PS I'll soon post some of the images here.
