Zeiss Contax Forum for the classic Zeiss Contax I, II, III, IIa, IIIa , G series, and if you want to push it, the nice Contax point and shoots. Some spill over from the Kievs, the Soviet copy of the Contax II/III can also be expected. Plus the ONLY production camera ever made in classic Zeiss Contax Rangefinder mount WITH TTL metering ... the Voigtlander Bessa R2C.

What is a good asking price for a G1?

I see several G1 bodies for sale for around $200-$235.
Is this a good price?
Some have lcd bleeding, and some don't.
Most a green label.

Most I have seen in green label, the asking price is $175.00- $299.00 in camera shops in Seattle.

Ebay prices seem to be sub $200 for a basic green label in working condition and no bleed. I recently sold one at $225 with green label, databack and in excellent condition. I was hoping for more but the G2's are what everyone seems to want.

I will look for a clean G1 as a back-up for my G1.

I have a silver label G1, I think it was $150 in EX condition from KEH, w/ databack (although the databack doesn't work, or I don't know how to work it).

So you would recommend buying from KEH a G1?
The databack is of no use to me.

There are several G1 cameras listed at KEH for less than $200.

Yes, I'd go for it. Perfect condition at a great price. Too bad the lenses got expensive again due to that new adapter to use them on M4/3

I just bought another G1 (from KEH) for $180. It is Green Sticker, and no LCD bleeding.
Next, I may need batteries.
What do you use?

I was lucky [at RFF] with the first very clean G1 plus mintish 28mm, 45mm, 90mm lenses. All for $675.

Now I have two G1 cameras, and it is a perfect travel set for me. It will be a blast to use these three Zeiss lenses. One day, I will add the 21mm lens.
