PS For anyone who doesn't know Tomatsu's work, he took some astounding pictures in Nagasaki in the late 40s and early 50s capturing the lingering devastation and wounds. There was a show, much praised, at the SF Museum of Modern Art a few years ago called, I think, Skin of a Nation. A great photographer. I don't know if he's still living.

Can not speak to the provenance but the price is way out of line for an Olympic S3 without the Olympic 50/1.4 lens. That lens is the "allure factor" of the Olympic S3 Kit. Without it you have a metal curtained black paint S3 with a vanilla 50/1.4 & an undocumented provenance...definitely not a 5 grand kit IMHO.

Tomatsu is one of Japan's most famous and inspirational photographers of all time, still alive I believe (born in 1930).

Regardless of the camera price, if this was actually his camera I imagine it would be worth more than the asking price on the collectors market. But as you said, it's just an allegation with no proof whatsoever.
