Help me with this FED-3 model
Hi everyone,
A friend found in her attic her father's camera. It is a FED-3 but it commemorates the 50 years of something. Any ideas what it is and what is the value of the camera in the used market?
Thanks everyone.

50 years of something - maybe communism? I don't read russian so I can't tell you but I'm sure someone else will. As for value, it's a FED 3 and they aren't very valuable. They made so many, even commemorative ones, that they don't have rarity value beyond a nominal amount.

I managed to find some info on ussrphoto.com.
" Fed 3b Great October - 50
1967
Although soviet camera industry produced a lot of commemorative cameras, only very few Fed's were among them. That's why an anniversary Feds becoming very scarce nowadays. To commemorate the "Great October - 50" Fed issued three cameras: Fed-3b, Fed-4b and Fed-11 Atlas with special engravings. The Atlas is very uncommon.
Although mass-market Fed cameras have no date prefix in their serial numbers, the commemorative Fed-3b has special serials both on camera body and Industar-61 lens. In my case camera body has serials #6724326 and the lens # 6763205.
This camera was also released, without engraving, in a special commemoration box. You can see an example on picture #4 or at
http://cccp.webstar.nl/fed_3l50y.htm
these cameras also had the prefix 67 to the serial number."

50 years of "Great October" (revolution). Much of the production marketed in 1967 seems to marked this way. These are far from rare.

It's not valuable as a collectible item, but it can deliver very good results, provided it's in working condition and you give it a try (i.e use it as a tool). I have two of them and wouldn't mind getting a third one.
Take a chance and try for yourself. You'll be surprised.

I used to have a FED-4 which I ended up giving it to a friend who was starting getting involved with photography. This camera does not belong to me, so hopefully she will use it.

FWIW I paid £15 for a non-commemorative one in mint condition and working perfectly - WITH a Jupiter 11 included.
P.S. p.giannakis, I see you're just up the road from me!
