where do get battery cover for Minolta Maxxum Xtsi?
Is there a parts shop type of place in NYC where i can get the battery cover?

I found a source online but would rather if it can be had locally.

Chrysler Camera referred me to Photo Technica on 13th street. They don't have it. No one else in town has it.
I ordered from the website (based in San Diego, CA), but got called back immediately saying that they are in fact out of stock even though the website listed 13 in stock.

So, is it really impossible? Any home made remedy?
