Scanner for 6x17 negatives

Anyone have any recommedations for a Scanner for 6x17 negatives?

I am currently looking at Microtek's ScanMaker i700.

My local lab out sources the work to another lab, that charges $5 per scan and the overal performance is lacking so far (lost negatives, not scanning all of the work, expensive, high jpg compression, scans are between 300 and 600 dpi [variable]).

I am trying to get tiff files from them now, but I will pay for the i700 in a week or two at this rate.

I have an Epson 4990 Photo. It's great!

Cheers.

Have you used the 4990 to scan 6x17 or other large odd size negs? Could the 8x10 adapter be used to scan more than one 6x17 in batch mode?

If you want the best I have an Imacon 343 with the 6x18 carrier for sale. It's mint for $3,800 and $175 for the carrier.

The 343 produces .97 gig files from 6x17!

I don't have that kind of change handy, but I will forward this to a friend who might be interested in that scanner.

Thanks, I appreciate the forward to your friend. I've had it on three forums but only attracted a couple of scam deals so I've listed it on ebay. I've had much better luch on ebay ---
