It was an APS camera targeted toward kids. It is ugly but kool.

The problem with this camera is, that as long, as I looked at it, there is no deeper meaning, no logic in it's shapes.

It is … it is nothing - it makes no sense.
It's forms have no reasoning, they are neither functional (far from it), nor good look, or resembling a known shape.

What surprises me the most, is that at some point somebody must have made the decision for this project and has given the go for making tools, fixtures, …

Somebody dumped money into this thing?

No way such a simple concept as a camera can be made to look ugly.
I clicked on the link and... jeez, that is hideous.
Good job Canon.
I agree. I've seen many strange cameras, but none ugly as such. This one however hit the mark. Maybe because it doesn't resemble a camera at all.

That's exactly what I thought.

If we make a triangle from Beautiful, Practical, and Ergonomic, this camera would be about one mile (in any direction) *outside* of the triangle.

Canon also did another concept model. Less ugly but still...

Some of you may have seen my X100 shots taken at Manchesters Museum of Science & Industry this week. Well, look what else was there in a display case in the 'Collected Cameras' exhibit right opposite the other camera shown.

Look at the box, it has fruit store camouflage!

On the bright side, you can use that even in the most dangerous parts of a city... Muggers and robbers won't even try to steal it, I guess!

Now there's a politically correct way of saying that something's hideous..

I can almost imagine it:

- No, you're not ugly at all, you're just a huge departure from the norm..

Sony NEX should be in this contest, too - big lens with small body attached looks rather awful.

For me, this is the ugliest camera of this millennium
