More distortion than my Zeiss 25. The Hexar AF 35 is very good this way except close in. I understand this can be corrected in post but I don't like it or having to deal with it.

I think what little stock there was, its probably the last we'll see for a while, none of the camera stores I've spoken to have any idea when the next batch will arrive and if there will be enough quantity to keep the wolves at bay.

By the time my X100 gets here I may have moved on to macramé.

It's not looking good Keith, i'm on early preorder lists and there is no eta. God knows when you'll be able to just walk into a camera store and heaven forbid - buy one.

Michaels in Melbourne received three yesterday of the 30 they ordered. Luckily mine was included. The salesman had no idea when the next batch might arrive.

Well for those that have them if they decide they don't like the camera they can turn a quick profit on ebay ... then keep saving for an M9!

It's been a remarkable chain of events leading up to the release of this camera.

Mine won't be appearing on eBay. I am already falling in love.

I was in the store today and had a play with the display model. Very nice, but I must admit it felt nowhere as solid or as tactile as an M body - but then again, we all know that.

Maybe it is a good thing for me (financially) that the camera will not be avail for a while.

Why does everyone keep comparing this camera to a M. Leica's own X1 doesn't feel like a M either.

Why not? Have I touched on something sacred here? Both are cameras. One is a RF whilst the other tries to be one - I am a fanboy of neither - I like them both. If my comparison between the two offends you so much then I'll do my best to hide my future comparisons from your sensitive eyes.

I just received an email update from DCW who have my X100 order ... I had to actually ask which annoyed me!

Quote:
Thank you for your enquiry. We have made an enquiry with our Fujifilm representative who has advised us the factory is indeed operation again. Here’s the excerpt from their email:

“The situation with the X100 is that the Factory in Sendai is now back in production with the X100 and has been since 23rd March. Still no ETA but as soon as I have anymore information I will let you know.”

At this stage our representative is unable to provide us with an ETA for when we can expect stock of the X100 to arrive. We will be informing our preorder customers as soon as stock does arrive and we begin shipping.
They have yet to receive their initial order.

I'm kind of over it now ... I'm ready for the X200!

Put the money into an interest bearing account and by the time Fuji have got the X100 ready for delivery .... you will be able to afford an M9

Must take some of the shine off but I'm sure once it arrives all will be forgiven.

I'm waiting on DCW too mate (4th in line I think) - hit them up with a twitter message earlier and they suggested end-of-april orders will start shipping. I quote:

Shipment is likely from end of April at this stage, however our preorders are huge and it may be a while to fill all orders.
At this point I suspect they know about as much as us - i.e. sod all

Ah well ... it could be a while then as I didn't get my name down until fairly late. I may not get a camera from their first shipment at all.

Vanbar must have ordered very early ... their first shipment has been and gone!

I'm covering my bases, I've preordered at DCW and Vanbar and I'll wait and see which comes in first. I ordered of DCW first however Vanbar seem to have the connections as they have had a batch come and go.

So the launch has been done and dusted. Went well, had a few X100's floating around for all to fondle. Christian Fletcher has had one for a few weeks, lots of large prints of his time with it were scattered around the place. Really REALLY nice images, all printed from jpeg's.

Word from the Fuji rep's was that more are expected later this month, but they couldn't guarantee shipment dates.

Apologies, but which launch are we talking about here?
I'm still waiting to hear from DCW (4th on pre-order list) and as yet all they can tell us they have no idea when they will get X100s

It's ironic ... geographically Perth is one of the most remote cities on the planet!

I think its funny that there is a launch, but nobody nationally has got a camera. Seems like a select bunch of pros got all the stock and the general public are left, waiting, waiting and waiting. Launch, you've got to be kidding.
