Can a Dokme F803

And have adequate protection of the bodies. For me, that means having the bodies separate from one another, and from the lenses/keys and such.

If so, its the bag for me. If not, what is the bag for me?

I own a 803, and I use a pair of Domke padded inserts from their J-1 and J-2 bags to keep two cameras from clanging against each other. I sometimes use this sachel with these inserts to carry two MF cameras like a Rollei 3.5F and a Tele Rolleiflex or my 3.5F with a Mamiya 6 with the lens collapsed.

I also found that the padded insert that comes with the 803 will fit a Leica M-body standing up with certain lenses.

All the lenses you want to carry depends on which ones if they all fit. My 75 Lux is too big to fit in the pockets I believe.

The I-pad will fit ahainst your hip, and I'm not so sure this is best or comfortable.

I'd typically have a 28 and 50 on the bodies and a 90 and 35 in the case.

The Domke could easily accommodate what you specify, though it might get a wee bit crowded. You'll need to buy two extra inserts however, or perhaps one large insert. The iPad will fit in the document sleeve on the back of the bag and the keys, wallet and what have you in the outer pockets along with a few rolls of film.

My F803 carried my entire gear ensemble when I travelled. An M4-P with Summicron 35, CL with CV21, GRD III with 21mm conversion lens, seven rolls of film and some other bits and bobs like a passport, wallet, notebooks and so on.

The Domke F803 is a great bag, fits most of what an M shooter might want to bring along. And it lasts an age. I've used my Domke every day for almost four years now, at times carrying really heavy stuff. It also stands up to the weather very well, I left the bag out in wet snow for about an hour once with my M4-P and a lens or two inside, not a hint of moisture inside of the bag when I came to bring it inside an hour later. I've only recently noticed corrosion on the metal rings and some light fraying of the canvas straps closest to the bag itself, but I think the bag could last another four years of heavy use, at least. Though I will be replacing mine with a Hadley Pro at some time or another, just for the Hadley's good looks.

I just put an m3/50mm rigid and an m6ttl/35mm 1.2 and an apple g4 (I dont have an Ipad)....along with a 90mm/2 and a 28mm/2,8 and ten rolls of film, this stuff was stuffed in the two front pockets....everything fit but it would be a PIA to the grab lenses quickly....needless to say, it is a tight fit...granted I used two very big lenses to test it and a laptop which is wider than an Ipad.......anyways, here are some photos that you can check out...I should mention that I use a specific Domke insert, it is more like a "sleeve" for the cameras.....my wallet and keys and were placed in the two front small pockets with zippers....nothing was placed in the back pouch, but i imagine an Ipad would fit, but I don't think it would be very comfortable against your hip...

Michael, thanks that helps alot! However, where are the lenses in that picture? Do they go next to the bodies, or a separate compartment?

If the bodies you refer to are rangefinders, then most likely yes. If SLRs, probably not. Great bags, I love mine.

You can cram all that gear into an F803 but it will be stuffed like a fat sausage. OK for storage or transport, but not for working. Myself, I can't work out of an overpacked bag - there needs to be room for convenient access and retrieval, preferably one-handed.

When I travel, I use it to carry a Rolleiflex, a Leica body (with one lens attached,
of course), two or three more lenses (depends on the mood), plenty of film (certainly
more than 10 rolls), some notebooks (I mean, these things made of stitched sheets
of paper where you can write with a pencil or a pen), phone and whatever and a real
laptop, small certainly, and its cord. Plus filters. And pencils and pens. Etc. If I'm not
carrying the Rolleiflex, then it fits another Leica body or, if you struggle enough, a small
Nikon body with a 85/2 or a 50/1.4.

If anybody really wants to carry a laptop Domke make the J 803 bag. Same style, a tiny bit bigger and made from a much nicer material. I think the little bit extra room makes it a very usable bag, whereas I gave my F 803 away because even for a small M outfit there was no room for the everyday comforts of life, like a sandwich or bottle of water.

I had the J-803 once, but let it go pretty fast. It was unusably tight--forget the laptop, the beer you'd pick up on the way home, even lettersize printouts to work on in the park. The F-802, on the other hand, is a perfect all day bag and it doesn't even look that much larger. I guess it's not that extra inch alone, it's how you use it.

the lenses were in the two front pockets....buried under all that film.....personally, I would not want to work out of a bag that stuffed.....

I can get two Leica M bodies, each with a lens, into two of the three main compartments in my 803. I can put two lenses in the third compartment by wrapping one in a lens wrap. My 75 Lux fits fine in one of the compartments. There is even enough room for a small lens, like a 35 Summicron, in a Domke wrap in the same compartment.

Ten rolls will fit, divided between the front flap compartments. And I carry a microfiber cloth and a brush in one of the tiny zipper compartments. Spare batteries go in the other zipper compartment.

Just tried it, the J803 does fit the 13" mba, in the outside sleeve, leaving you the full inside area for your cameras, pockets for extra lenses, and the inside pocket for documents or kindle, whatever.

But that outside sleeve is so tight, that you can't fit the mba in with a sleeve (so make sure you clean it out, and make sure there are no pieces of metal in there), and you actually have to insert the thin part of the mba in there first.

Great bag, but I don't really like that clip, am going to look for something more ZiF like in opening closing that hook.
