Unhappy Fuji Manufacturing plant is in Sendai

Hi all,

Not sure if this has been said yet, but I just read on the X100 group in Flickr that the Fuji's manufacturing plant is in Sendai. Looking at those videos on news there doesn't appear to me much left of Sendai so there could be some delays for those who are waiting for this little gem. Don't mean to seem to down play the importance of Human side of this tragedy but this being a photography site and that will be news to people who are waiting. And being a Kiwi whose country has just had a major earthquake we very sympathetic to what is happening in Japan.

The human side of this is much more important. People waiting on X100s will just wait a little longer.

And - if these were shipping via sea for delivery in late March, they left Sendai long ago.

Best,
Dante

Actually, it's Fuji Heavy Industries (Subaru) that is in Sendai.

I'm pretty sure the x100 isn't manufactured in sendai. Fuji heavy industries (subaru) is though.

According to DP Review Sendai is Fuji's main plant for assembling cameras & it also is where Nikon assembles their higher end DSLR's.

Nikon also has a factory in Sendai, where pro bodies and lenses are mainly assembled. I believe Sony's lithium battery plant as well as Honda's Tochigi's car plant are north of Tokyo, to name a few.

i think we should give it a few days before discussing how this tragedy might affect our hobby...

-edit
Amen and thank you for this Joe... I was thinking the same thing... our only thoughts should be of the people involved in this tragedy right now. rover
