naming my pup

I'll be driving to Kentucky in two weeks to pick up a new shooting buddy. And by shooting, I mean shotguns. I'm getting a llewellin (english) setter pup to train as a bird dog. So, sometime in the next two weeks I have to decide on a name. I thought I'd make a poll to see what's more popular from my current list of potential names for a male hunting dog. But feel free to give your own suggestion, too.

Hektor, Elmar, Snooky, I can check the Leica Manual for more.

I would go with Hektor.

If you had to sell a Leica to get him, why not Oskar or Ernst?

Hektor I believe to be the name of Barnack's dog - could there really be a better name in the circumstances?

jesse

great suggestions all around! I kinda like Click, but I think that would confuse him at times. It would kinda be like naming him "Chute"... being out in the field and hearing people say "shoot" would totally screw him up.

You did not know that Hektor was a DOG!

Is that where the term came from, "This lens is a Dog?"

The original 5cm F2.5 Hektors had a bad rep.

I went for Whisky - simply because I used to own an Irish Setter called Brandy.

Fabulous dog.

You will be calling his name many times a day,
a easy name to yell and save your voice is good.
My choice would be, Shot.

good one, Brian. And sadly enough, I didn't even have to google that one to know it.

I'm still kicking around names, but 'whatever' is right.. it's a name that will be use a LOT, so I need to make sure it's something I'm comfortable with.

another name I came up with is Winston.. which should seem a good fit for an english setter. And I associate with my fly fishing rod, which conjures up many good memories.
