Any advice about improving the desing or the selection would be highly apreciated.

In such that my comments are relevant, would it be possible to ask what your intended purpose is for this site? (soliciting assignment work, simply showing friends, photo forum credibility, etc).

- and who the intended audience is? (local within Romania, or international).

There have been people interested in my pictures (not only family) and i decided to invest in a personal website, I ain't looking to get a job (atleast not now).
I am not targeting only Romania, it would have been written in romanian if i were.
Thanks,
Dragos

If targeting a wide audience, assume that not everyone viewing the site knows where the listed galleries are. While many will know that Ganga and Jodhpur are in India, the majority will not. Similarly with your Romanian locations. Many that might click on "India" might not bother with 'Jodhpur'.

I've faced this with one of my own sites in which I have an entire section dedicated to an island that I shot a good bit on: La Digue. Now, those that are obsessed with Indian Ocean travel will instantly know where La Digue is, but rather than make it a mystery, I simply call the category "Seychelles", which far more people are familiar with....I think.

The above is simply nitpicking, it's obviously an attractive site as-is. It's just one issue that I've faced personally with my sites so it came to mind.

If this is not a site intended for commerce, I doubt it even matters.

The heart of a good photographer personal website is a strong portfolio.
You nailed that one aspect. Good luck with your site.

Really, I'll repeat it too - outstanding photos!!
Photos are so strong that I didn't care what the site looks like.
I've especially enjoyed "Dobrogea". Smart and interesting compositions.

+1 outstanding photos. I especially liked #13 - Caras-Severin, 2009 in the Singles/B&W gallery. Additionally, while I generally like B&W, Your color work in India was especially good.

Incredible photography. I like the site design, and would change only one thing. I'd like more information about each image, not just a title. Your work is like mine, documentary in nature. I would like to know more about what i'm looking at in each photo. I'm also a historian (working on my masters degree in history now) and am interested in the history and culture of other peoples. Whenever I see work like yours, I always get disappointed if I cannot learn from it because I don't know what is going on in the photo, what they're showing, and I see so much that I could learn from the images...if you told me more.

Can I just say I've really enjoyed looking through your site. I think number 13 in the black and white section is the outstanding shot. Loved the colour shots too.

WOW
I didn't notice the attention this thread received lately. Thanks everyone for the appreciation. I will try to keep in mind the advice and I will try to add more info wherever possible.
Anyway, I did a little bit of spring cleaning, rewrote/reordered some stuff and I added a few pictures from Cuba

Very Nice Work

Love your images (esp the color !) and your website is wonderfully simple and nice to view.
Great content, no clutter.
Someone remarked about adding more historical comments. That might be nice if you can do it simply (a button that opens a small comment window?)
