Shutter bounce caused by cold???

So, I'm having some trouble with my Canon P... I've been getting some shutter bounce on fast speeds (typically 1/250 or faster, but sometimes as 1/125) - but it doesn't seem to be regular at all.

I think both of these were taken at 1/125, but I might be wrong. Anyway, the one on the top was definitely taken later than the one on the bottom - same day, same walk.

I did a few test shots of my computer screen indoors - going from 1/30 to 1/500 - and none of those show any bounce at all. I guess my camera needs a CLA, but it seems like the cold weather is making it worse?

Are you sure it's not shutter stickiness (second curtain closing sluggishly) rather than bounce? This seems likelier with cold.

Cheers,

R.

That sounds likelier indeed. I'm new to this!

I have done CLA on a couple of lenses myself, but I guess this is different and I'll have to find a shop?

Probably. I know nothing about the intestines of Canon RFs. Shouldn't be an expensive fix.

Cheers,

R.
