Photogs / Photo Exhibits This is the place to discuss a particular Photographer (work, style, life, whatever), as well as to post Gallery and Museum Photo Exhibitions and your own impressions of them. As we march on in this new digital world, it is often too easy to forget about the visual importance of the photographic print, as well as their financial importance to the photographer. It is also interesting to remember that some guy named Gene Smith shot with lenses that many lens test reading "never had a picture published in their life" amateurs would turn up their their noses at, as being "unacceptable."

Some good stuff in there this time. I'm sure I'll regret not buying more.

Thanks for the info.

A lot of the square prints on sale in this square prints sale aren't square.

But they'll still fit in a square mat!

Yeah, I'm curious. Will the Matt still be 6x6.? So they just shrink the image to fit?

I got one last time which was square, but if I remember they all shipped in a square mat (and frame), you just get white space.

Edit: I was wrong, as you can see in this example

I'm assuming that you realize you can get just the print. You could also order a frame from Frame Destination (https://www.framedestination.com/) for 1/4 to a 1/3 of the cost from Magnum.

If you click on an image, it will show you how it's shipped as a print with the paper size or in the frame (matted closely). Easy.

I like these two a lot:

https://shop.magnumphotos.com/collec...nt=30421911491

Though there are several others I also really like. I've never bought a print from them before but I am really tempted this time.

The reason I asked, not necessarily the mat, but the image. When you select the drop down to order the print, it says image is 6x6. A lot of the images are obviously not that ratio. Although the picture shows correctly. Which is the final print, 6x6 , or the correct aspect .?
Thanks

If you select the Specs tab (below the image), it will show you the dimension of the longest side of the image. You can actually use the screen image to then get a pretty accurate number for the short side with some simple math.

I now have five images (just ordered a sixth for my daughter) and the long side (or square) is always 5.5 inches (14cm). The print size is always 6 inches (15.24x15.24cm).
