Pentax 110 24mm - New Photos

Finally got around to getting a good adapter for my Pentax 110 24mm lens and took it out shooting today. Here are some of the results:

Let me know what you think!

I used a paper aperture behind the lens to stop down to ~f5.6 hoping to get better corner performance... sharpened up the center quite a bit, but corners still very soft.

here's what I'm seeing in the corners:

not really usable IMO. Too bad.

What does "not really usable" mean? Not usable in a snapshot album? Not usable on Facebook? Not usable as a gift for the Queen? Seriously, what do you mean? I like these shots. Photography is about vision, not perfection. Perhaps I do not understand what you mean, but what I am reading here does not make a lick of sense.

I guess I should say that it is hard to justify using the lenses when there are so many better lenses for the system. It would also be hard to justify using the lenses for any photography that you would want to show in a gallery... but I guess I would. I posted that set of photos and was happy with the photos, even with the corners being what they are.

I guess I just take my photography a little too seriously?

But, if I'm going to take such a hit in IQ I'd rather have a more exotic "toy camera" look or something, not just smeared corners.

Fix the alignment. The lens obviously is poorly centred or out of parallel.

Umm... what can I adjust if all 4 corners are identically bad???

My C/V Color-Skopar 21 does the exact same thing on this camera, while with the same adaptor the Color-Skopar 50 performs flawlessly. I think it is just how the sensor responds to light hitting from an extreme angle.

That's an unfortunate fact about digi sensors with traditional lenses. Grand amounts of money and labor have been invested in digital lenses, micro-lenses and correction algorithms to overcome those facts...

I like the photos myself. I prefer tonality and content over optimal sharpness.

Thanks wblynch for liking the photos! I liked them too, otherwise I wouldn't have posted them.

I was a little disappointed in the smushy corners though.

The comments on the lens were based on the fact that there is nothing making me use that lens since I have other native options that work much better. I had to try it out though... part of the fun of m43!
