Nice. That's the way to do it. I've got plenty in my equipment, but nowhere near what I could have in it through this method, and being lucky enough to often be in a position to snap up things to resell if a good price is dangled in front of me more often than not.

M6 TTL with a 50/1.4 Summilux at a Thrift Shop

I picked it up for $80 at Valu-Village.

It was sitting on the second shelf of their display case, right below a mint 35/f2 Nikkor that had originally caught my eye ($25 - I bought that too).

I stood flat against the case completely blocking any view of the contents until a worker could show me the camera. Walked home with it in a plastic bag in a daze.

My brother bought a M3 (single stroke), a Summarit 50 mm f/1.5, a Summaron 35 mm f/3.5 and a Elmar 90 mm f/4, many filters and some other photo stuff for 250 € - about 2 years ago...

Over 1.1mil M3 body in pretty rough cosmetic condition for $100. I figured I'd get her CLA'd and be good to go.
I never got that CLA, but ten years later she's still the smoothest M I own. About 75% of her original vulcanite was missing so I re-covered her with Aki Asahi 4008.

The photog that had her before me used her as a wide angle camera. Fitted with a 21 f4 and used professionally for about 30 years.
I had a chance to purchase that 21 when I got the camera but couldn't afford it at the time. The gentleman that did buy it passed away about a year ago and i was able to acquire the lens from his estate.
Now they're back together for good.

Free black paint m2.

About 15 years ago, a good friend told me he had a box of "junk" cameras in his closet tat had been bequeathed to him by his uncle, who apparently was a staff photographer for the NY Herald Tribune in the 50s and 60s. On showing me the box, it contained an M3, a black M2 and numerous lLeitz lenses and accessories. I told him I'd sell them all for him on EBay. Ithink I made him about $4000. In gratitude, he gave me the M2.
