Lens ID

Hi all, I'm trying to identify a lens from some pretty poor Gumtree images...

The lens itself isn't actually mentioned in the ad, the whole lot is just listed as 'Leica M2-940 034'

Any ideas?

That's what I thought, but there's a few details which don't quite seem right...

It looks like a Schneider 35mm f2.8 lens.

I'd say so too... with some kind of push-on filter adapter attached to it.

It's a Leitz f3.5 of some sort...

It's a collapsed M-mount 50/3.5 Elmar, with push-on filter. Like this one, for instance:

Roland.

You could be right, as the tiny image is hard to see on my small screen monitor, but I now do make out the word " Germany " engraved on the lens in one of the photos and that is a like on this Summaron for sale.

That looks like the winner, thanks!

Interesting, I didn't know there was an M version of the f3.5 Elmar

Good work Roland!

The lack of LTM to M mount adaptor and the position of the VF frame lever should have given me that clue.

BTW, That 50mm f3.5 lens is a great lens and kind of rare.

Agree ! Usually worth more than the 50/2.8. And one of TomA's favorites, I remember.

Roland.

M version of 35/3.5 Summaron also brings up 50mm framelines, unless modified.
