I bought and sold the same version of this lens around 250-300USD 3 years ago. And today i visit the very helpful website http://www.antiquecameras.net/leicamlenses.html and found,

90 Elmarit F2.8 Type 1 $ 800-1,350 1,645,300 - 2,730,000

is the price range real?

I can't imagine it jumps so high in past 3 years.

Hello, Robin,

It could be a thread mount version. I understand that lenses from about the 16xxxxxxx serial number range were either sold as thread mount or had an M bayonet mount attached with a grub screw. Later lenses were only available in M mount.
I wanted one of these transitional lenses to use on my Barnacks, but the prices were so outrageous that I finally settled for an M mount one for about $250. The curious part is that the 135mm Elmar lenses were also supplied in both thread and M mount and the thread mount ones go for very short money. It's a wonderful lens, BTW.

Best,
David

Dear David,

Thanks for the input. It's the first time I learn that the early 90mm and 135mm are also tansitional like first version of Summicron 35mm and summaron 35. Will check it next time when I have chance to touch 90/135 lens.

Regards,
