Accidentally ordered two copies of Mike Brodie's Period of Juvenile Prosperity so one goes on the shelf still in the shrink wrap. Can't think of a recently published book as good as his.

Mary Ellen Mark's Ward 81 should arrive next week.

Edited to add that with no thanks to this forum, I just impulse purchased the Winogrand book on Amazon.

I have it on order but it's not available in the US until the middle of June.

Last month:

Shinya Arimoto - Ariphoto Vol.2 & Vol.3

Still can't believe how cheap these are, considering the high quality of print!

Thrift store find...

the camera i
Photographic Self-Portraits
The Audrey and Sydney Irmas Collection

It would appear that this is the catalogue for an Exhibition at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in 1994.
There is a tag in the front of the book noting that the catalogue was presented as a benefit of the recipient's membership with the LACMA.

My copy of Genesis arrived from Amazon yesterday - even though Amazon still lists as not yet released. So if you have one on preorder it should arrive earlier than estimated originally.

It is a big, heavy, handsome volume. My only disappointment (not unique to this book certainly) is that many prints span two pages and thus have a fold in the middle - I would have preferred nothing interrupt the flow of each image.

But it matters little, I am completely taken in by the book and was not able to put it down until late into the night. Ok, I'm not a great photographer by any means but it isn't typical for me to look at someone else's work and hear a little creeping voice in my head that says I should just stick to snapshots of friends and family..... In reality though, to parse his images in terms of technique or personal inspiration misses the point and indeed, any such thoughts quickly dissipated as I was completely drawn in to the story this collection weaves.

FWIW, a big thumbs up from me.
