Actually both answers are correct. The 35RF Sonnar is a modern improved version of the original 70's one from the compact Rollei 35. However this modern version originated on the later Rollei 35 series that have the hotshoe on top and cost a fortune. This accounts for the confusion why you get both yes and no answers. No its not identical to the 70's Sonnar but yes its from a Rollei 35 but the later version that are pretty much collectables.

What do you like about this lens?

What do you like about this lens?

1) the sharpness on center
2) the transitions to OOF and creamy bokeh
3) the warm color
4) the tiny size of the lens
5) the chrome-over-brass Cosina-made barrel

The only thing I don't like is the hood, which can only be screwed off using the lenscap, and which prevents filter changing.

This is a real gem of a lens. Versatile and handy, it is excellent for both landscape and portraits.

I have one en route and I can't wait to slap it (very gently) onto my M8. I need, of course, to buy a UV/IR filter. What is the filter diameter? Thanks in advance!

i don't understand this comment.
i can unscrew the shade by pinching it with 2 fingers at one spot along the rim.
