Win a Rolleiflex - REVISED CONTEST RULES

The Vivian Maier contest is being revised with a Vivian style Rolleiflex T going to the winner!

Keep an eye on this thread for updates!

More pics of the Rollei at http://www.rangefinderforum.com/phot...leiflex/cat/10

RFF Vivian Maier Photo Contest - REVISED RULES
OK Folks,

RFF will have a Vivian Maier Photo Contest!

Shoot in Vivian's style.

Winner will be determined by RFF member votes.

Vivian used high end equipment of her day, so I am guessing she would be shooting digital today. Analog or digital are acceptable.

She shot Rollei Twin Lens Reflex 2 1/4 and 35mm Leica (among other cameras) so square or rectangular, B/W or color.

Selfies in her style are definitely allowed, not that you have to dress the part.

Vivian Maier style means emulating her style of shooting as best you can. RFF will vote (one vote per member) on the best Vivian style photo.

Old pics or new pics. No smartphone pics.

You may enter up to 20 pics. Any photo deemed inappropriate for any reason will be removed.

New members may enter the contest. However their vote for the winner will not count unless they have made 20 posts in the forum.

One vote per member - so choose your vote carefully. No changes will be made if you inadvertently vote for the wrong pic. Members may not vote for themselves. Votes are anonymous. The top 10 vote getters will be rated per their number of votes. Lobbying for votes in this forum or any other public venue will get your photos disqualified.

All photos and their copyrights are owned by the photographer. However by entering the contest, members are agreeing to allow RFF to use your photo to advertise RFF contest results for free.

RFF reserves the right to change contest rules without notice if there is sufficient reason, however we will aim not to do so.

Entry Submission ENDS November 1st. 1st Round Voting begins Nov 2 and ends November 15th. If the number of entries is large, the top 20% of vote getters will move on to the 2nd round of voting November 16th to November 30th.

The Vivian Maier contest gallery is now open. Choose the Vivian Maier contest drop down menu from the Gallery Search HERE and upload your pics!

Entries must be uploaded to the RFF Gallery in the Vivian Maier Contest. Posting in this thread does NOT enter you into the contest. That is what the contest gallery is for.

There's an incentive to get out and shoot! Thank you Stephen for making the best photography forum on the web (in my view) even better.

May I ask: can anyone enter this contest? I doubt I'll enter personally, but it would be nice to see it go to a member who has been here longer than five minutes.
Cheers,
Brett

I would enter for the sake of encouraging others to do so and for the fun of, but not to win the camera

I would enter for fun and to encourage others to enter, but would be totally fine with winning a Rollei.

If I won the camera, I would start another contest to let someone else win the camera.

Besides altruism, is there any reason you wouldn't keep the camera?

I figure I would at least shoot it to see if it was worth keeping over my C330 and Yashica 635.

The bad news is that it only works if you're wearing a frumpy outfit and a floppy hat and clunky shoes.

Why no phone images?

Also does it have to be 3x2 or square? Is 16x9 or 4x5 acceptable?

I’d say, one natural reason is:

So called «smart» phones are prone to be used (misused) as stealth cameras, so to say.

But as far as one knows, Ms Maier did NEVER use any form of stealth cameras.

Well, it depends. I have a friend that walk with me on the streets at lunch time that uses a Rolliflex like the one offered as a price. He stands in a corner and shoots everywhere, no body notices him. He does not look at the person. He is just looking at the camera and pretending that he is fixing something. He is actually focusing and shooting. That is the reason I want the camera. If I use my M3, everyone will notice, unless I prefocus and pretend not to see. So Rolliflex may be a stealth camera.
