A portrait with the Jupiter-8 and Ilford Delta 3200. I really like the tonality I get from this combo.

For a lens that cost me all of $30.00US, it's amazing.

Just got back my J-8 that was re-lubed by Yuri of Fedka. I thought I do a quick test to compare it with my recently acquired collapsible Summicron 50 that also just got back for a CLA from Youxin.

Not sure of the vintage of mine, but now am curious. This is with my new (to me) Leica M4-P.

The J-8 has this wonderful softness and glow wide open, which I find works beautifully with b&w film. In color, and especially on digital, I find it looks horrible, though ...

Maybe I should stack up in Delta 400 ...

The OOF looks harsh in some of the photos posted here, but for the low cost of a J8 you have a wonderful lens overall.

I moved on to a J3 after too short a time. That J8 was stellar. My only complaint about it was the lack of aperture stops. Throw that in and it would have been all I needed in a medium speed 50.

I JUST took delivery of a J8 and ran a few quick ones off on my adapted Nex-5n.

This is my first FSU product of any kind. I am not sure what sort of preconceived notions I had, but ... to say I am staggered is an understatement. What a GREAT lens -regardless of what costs are involved.

Lots to learn, but I will post back here soon!

This is more like a test shot done with Jupiter 8 50mm f2 on my M9.
Albeit the lens is filled with a little fungus and scratches on the elements, it still seems to be a very capable lens, delivering a decent quality for BnW work.
