You are uploading the images as direct links from Flickr, which doesn't work. The recent redesign changed the location of the respective buttons, but you want to copy&paste the "BBCode" not the actual URL

which starts with something like "[url=http://...][img]..."

Posting images only produces thumbnail

I've done a search, but come up empty. When I post an image to one of the forums, Fuji X-Por1 for instance, only a thumbnail of the image appears. Then one has to click on this for the full size image to appear.
Is there a way to just upload the full sized image and have it appear within the forum?

Thanks.

That's what happens when you attach an image.

Upload it your member gallery, then click on "Insert Image" and cut & paste the image's link from your gallery

Reposting this from another thread:

Can you please tell me how to resize an image on here? I am so frustrated because I am trying to upload images and they blow up much too large. I am using wordpress.

Here is an example:
http://stillthrill.files.wordpress.c.../11/image_.jpg

What sort of parameters can I pass into the IMG HTML element to make it within 500px wide?

Also, if the moderator is listening, why not have responsive HTML and CSS where the thread automatically resizes the images to your screen? (Use flexbox, its amazingly easy!!!). Oh - and don't worry about supporting IE 7 or 8, just leave them in the dust and force people to migrate :-).

I can use Flickr w/o problems. I was wondering if it was possible to post full size (~850-1000 pixel width) directly from my computer. In other words, not using a hosting site. Maybe not?

Have u tried using hard coded "[IMG]" and to end w/ "[/IMG]" between the URL. This is essentially what the image button did.

Example.. Remove quotes of course. I am using them so the forum sw doesn't try to embed an image.

"[IMG]my picture URL link.xxx.jpg[/IMG]"

What comes up is the URL language, you can click on that and get an image to come up in a separate window.

When I go to "Gallery", then to "Upload Photos," and try the trick you described, I get the unending march of the green squares that goes for hours. Same thing happens if I don't use your method. The file I'm uploading isn't that big, it was made with an I-phone and resides in Photobucket.

Inserting Images with iMac/Safari

Ok, I'm following the directions on insertion via a URL and all I get displayed is a little blue square with a question mark inside. Are there different instructions or incompatibilities with Safari?

Flickr dropped BB Code...Now what?

What can we Flickr users do to post photos here now that they have dropped the BB Code? I don't want to have to start resizing files to attempt to upload them to the RFf server, which just doubles my workflow, not to mention having to keep track of it all. Will the HTML code work here? Their Embed doesn't do any good, as I found out last night.

via my usual method. I seem to still have the option for BBCode under the "share this via" icon.

Correction: I still see the "Grab HTML/BBCode" below the "Share Via" when I click on the box-with-an-arrow icon.

I'm like farlymac in that my image view screen seems to have chenged to a new format today. There is no BBcode option under the 'Share' menu now.

Just a check............this worked - click on the arrow / box thingy then on the little notice board pin widget then select the image size you want to use, and then copy and paste the url that appears to this forum. I admit I prefer the old style Flickr as its a known quantity and is not too objectionable in appearance but it looks as if that's no longer an option (up to now you had a choice as to the layout used on your own page -old style or new).

Still there, but it takes a while to find it. Hopefully this helps and you can also choose the size:

yep, it's gone ... however a right-click on the image still allows one to copy its address ...

Go to "Download/All Sizes."

Click "View All Sizes" in the dialog box.

Choose the size you want (ex. Medium 800).

Right click on image (for Mac, Control+Click).

In the dropdown menu choose "Open Image in New Tab."

This will give you the image with the "http://farm4.staticflickr.com/..." address.

Post that web address inside the [IMG] brackets (from the RFF comment toolbar).

Done.

Its still there - albeit having to deal with that ugly interface. In the attached image, click the icon the overlay drop down box emanates from, click the HTML radio button, select the dimensions from the drop down menu (top line), copy code from text box, done! However, given its the whole embedded linking code, I just paste it into the comment box and recopy the part I want <img src=....

No, as mentioned before:
- View the photo.
- Click the 'share this photo' icon (box with arrow pointing out).
- Click the thumb-tack icon.
- Choose your preferred size.
- Copy and paste the generated BBCode.

Just using the photo's URL breaks flickr's community guidelines which require one to link back to the photo's page on flickr.

Also if you append '?details=1' to your photostream URL then you can have the old thumbnails-only view; and doing the same with '/detail' on a photoset's URL will give a similar result.

Still there (but you have to be logged in) -- just click on the "box with the arrow" (it says "More Ways to Share" when you hover over it), and then under "Grab the HTML/BBCode"

Re: iPad Photo Posting

Here's how I post photos to RFF from Flickr via the iPad:
  • Click on the photo on Flickr, on a separate browsing tab in Safari.
  • Click on the "more ways to share" button on the lower right of the image.
  • Select "original" resolution.
  • Select/copy the entire code string.
  • Open the Notes app on the iPad.
  • Paste the code string into Notes.
  • Highlight just the part of the code that contains the image URL, beginning with "h t t p" and ending with ". j p g"
  • Copy the URL.
  • Back on the RFF window in Safari, click on the "Insert Image" icon and paste the image URL into the dialog box.
Note: by altering the last letter of the image URL just prior to the ". j p g" you can vary the image size.
Note: this method seems to work regardless of Flickr's site maintenance, as they did the same thing a few months ago, after which I discovered this method.

~Joe

PS: In case you're curious, here's a list of all the suffix letters to the Flickr JPG URLs and their corresponding widths:
_o = original width
_b = large width
_c = medium 800 wide
_z = medium 640 wide
no suffix = medium 500 wide
_n = small 320 wide
_m = small 240 wide
_t = thumbnail 100 wide
_q = square 150 wide
_s = square 75w

Someone on the Fujix-forum posted a new Youtube video showing the new process:

This is the one, and only, of the recent changes to Flickr that I actually like.
