Optics Theory - This forum is aimed towards the TECHNICAL side of photographic OPTICS THEORY. There will be some overlap by camera/manufacturer, but this forum is for the heavy duty tech discussions. This is NOT the place to discuss a specific lens or lens line, do that in the appropriate forum. This is the forum to discuss optics or lenses in general, to learn about the tech behind the lenses and images. IF you have a question about a specific lens, post it in the forum about that type of camera, NOT HERE.

Some cool stuff from rybolt and kuuan! This thread needs some more bokeh treatment, keep them coming folks!

Here's one with 13.5cm f3.5 Q Nippon Kogaku, wide open with Nikon Df.

Here's one using the Leitz Thambar 9cm f2.2 @f2.6 with the stop filter... ...interesting, even a little horrifying.

Absorbed in the universe of drawing
The Sonnar 85 mm (Jupiter-9 @ F2) not only has nice background but also models in a plastic (positive, artistic) manner. M240 & EVF.

Looks like we need another reminder...

This thread is special... it's not a words/no words thread, but instead it's in the technically-oriented Optics Theory forum. Please remember to include detailed lens information with your posted photo, as the main point of this thread is to link the OOF behavior with a specific lens. Aperture used is helpful too.

Some nice photos here, and interesting bokeh effects! Unfortunately, those without lens info will be deleted... Please return to your posted pics and add the needed data!

Hi Doug!

Feel free to delete my post. I have no idea what lens I used, let alone the f-stop or whatever. I'm a free spirit, I capture images as I go, didn't know about the restrictions regarding posting so.... you do has you need to do and I'll see what is required to bail out from this restrictive forum.

All the best,
Mike

Sorry, Mike, no criticism intended. But this special thread is in the technically-oriented Optics Theory forum, thus the emphasis on lens data here. Please enjoy RFF's rich environment!

Thanks, Doug, I should have read the thread from the beginning and not have just jumped on at the tail end. Lesson learned.

All the best,
Mike
