Revisiting Canon G2 ... acceptable .

I have just been revisiting my Canon G2 photos prior to my 1st DSLR [ Pentax K10D ] and they are perfectly acceptable on screen - I have not printed any .
In some respects the failure rate is lower maybe because I did not expect too much or push the boundaries .The screen is so tiny by current standards , but flips out for waist level shots .
I bought in reconditioned when the G3 came out - it was still quite expensive compared to a contemporary film SLR .

Make me wonder why I am uncomfortable with a simple compact Fuji FX1 in case I miss something where a larger sensor would be 'better'.
It has not happened yet , the FX1 is pretty OK for 150 !!
The I-phone SE is probably 'better' but less flexible of course .

Is anyone using an older quality compact which still works ?

Sure. Ricoh Caplio R3 and Contax TVS Digital. Two superb cameras.

Was using a Canon g5 until about a year ago. My edc is a Linux lx3, but I count that as modern. Well, modern enough

Not a compact but I still use my one and only dslr, a Canon 20d. It's perfectly acceptable for web use and never saw a need to upgrade. Sure it sucks for low light and you'll notice quality difference in prints from current slr's. I mostly shoot film and scan & print that so I'm happy.

I still have a Sony V1 I haven't used in a while, near Nightshot mode.

More frequently the Ricoh GX100 in a Sea&Sea housing, this is my go to for rustic camping, canoeing, and winter fun.

Makes me wonder if Ricoh would ever consider resurrecting the GX line.

I still have my G2 which I bought back in 2001 if I’m right. I converted it to an IR-only camera a few years back and that’s how I now use it.

The GXR is likely the last of the GX line, not much bigger than a GX100/200 it does everything better with the option of exchanging lensors.
