Right eye. Rather not have an advance lever in my face.

I used to shoot SLR cameras right=eyed, but since I started using rangefinders I have gradually changed over to using my right eye. That way I am not hiding behind the camera so much. I usually keep both eyes open but shut the left when critically focussing

I usually shoot right eye, but if it is quicker, or more sneaky to shoot lefty, I do that sometimes as well.

Left eye dominate, right eye open but blocked by camera/right hand.
Of course this sticks the advance lever in your right eye but nothing is perfect.
Hey! I could use an old Exakta VX, then the advance is on the left.

Even better: On my Ricoh 500, the advance is on the bottom!

The percentage of left eye dominant people in this poll is much greater than the percentage in the general population-----by a huge amount.
Does that say something about photographers?

Ever since this thread was first posted I've been paying much more attention to which eye I shoot with (90% SLR). I had assumed that it was my right eye, since I'm right handed, but I've come to realise that I actually use both, switching as I go.

The left eye is controlled by the right side of the brain, which excels at special relationships and creativity....among other visual interpretations.

I've always used both eyes open but used my right to take the photo, SLR's and RRF.
I guess it's whatever works for you

A friend of mine was bird spotting (one eyed through a field scope) for a summer and got a strange eye disease from that, Since then I always try to shoot with both eyes open. Not always successful, but almost...

Left eye has been my master eye all my life. When I was a kid and shooting rifles with my brothers, I always wondered why I was different.

I wish I was a left-eye shooter, but I'm not. I just recently discovered that my left eye is a little better than my right eye. Nothing too bad, but I'm afraid that in a couple years I might need contacts My left eye is dominant though.

I shoot left eyed, and I crook my right eye over the top plate of the camera so I can have a peek around if I want.
I'm right handed and footed though. I guess I inherited my shooting eye choice from my father.
