The people who design these things from scratch are geniuses IMO! Of course computers and CAD play an enormous part in this process these days.
I read that when Maitani designed the OM-1 in the early seventies he was given a maximum set of dimensions and weight by Olympus to work within and from what I've seen of the insides of an OM when taking the lens mount off to lubricate the aperture ring, there is
NO room inside this camera for anything extra. The very fine wires and guides that run from the front of the camera up to the metering system from the aperture dial and shutter speed ring blew my mind.
Looking at that X100 I'm amazed at the skill of the people who assemble these things!
I'd like to see the same thing done to one of the old space shuttles now they're no longer in use!
