M6 Lightmeter Issues

I did a quick search and didn't find this but forgive me if I wasn't thorough enough;

At certain ISO's, my M6 meter tells me it's infinitely too dark, namely at 800 or 400, but moving the ISO dial one click left or right seems to meter normally (so I just remember the difference and compensate).

Is this common?

Thanks,
Jake.

What might be causing it?

Dirt or corrosion on the contacts within the ISO selector dial.

Try cleaning the contacts between the back-flap and camer-body (the three gold-layered ones) very carefully with a rubber and turn the ISO deal a couple of times through all settings. If you are lucky it was only dirt / very slightly corrosion if not your M6 is in for service.

Cleaned the contacts, but they looked fine. Turned the dial all the way down to 6 where it feels a bit gritty in transit, meter seems no healthier. Could something be trapped in there or is the gritty feeling one of my Leica decomposing?

How expensive is this to repair? As the light meter in M6 is also gone. Fingers crossed not an expensive job, as I just bought it!!
