The first three shots are actually three different takes on Acros 100. You can see the captions when looking at a shot by moving the cursor just below the bottom edge of a given photo. The first is with the X100F simulated Acros at ISO3200 and neutral density filter (this gives some graininess). The second is 35mm film Acros 100 in my Leica MP. The third is 120 film Acros 100 in my Fuji GF670. The simulated Acros on the X100F is pretty convincing.

The final three shots are an experiment with the 50mm 'digital teleconverter' on the X100F. In this mode the camera takes a 50mm field of view crop of the 35mm field of view original, then up-res's the result to 24MP. The first shot is the regular 35mm fov. The second is my crop (in lightroom) to 50mm fov with no up-res. The third is the up-res'd 50mm fov shot using the digital teleconverter. These are all at 2048 pixels wide on Smugmug, so it is not a true test of the quality of the digital teleconverter. But at 100% in lightroom I really can't see a significant loss of quality.

This is probably the coolest digicam I have ever owned.

Cheers,
Kirk
Kirk,

Thank you for sharing these here. I have not compared Acros simulated to the real Acros film yet, but recently shooting with my X Pro 2 played with a file comparing the Acros G simulation to RAW. I still preferred the RAW result but find the simulation to be really good. I am still working on tweaking in-camera settings. Fun to see this comparison. On my monitor the simulation looks a bit more like the 120 sample you posted

Thank you Tony!

most of the time I start with a custom ACR presets based on vsco presets (they gave away some time ago basic kit with Provia, Gold and a few more). I spent some time tweaking them to my liking, but still they need to be adjusted to every single picture. Oh and ACR has really ugly "grain". You really want to keep it subtle with grading, and the real deal are curves and shadow/highlights. Bit more blacks with bumped midtones and preserved highlights. I also like to use "auto-color" tool right after initial grading, often only to undo it or tone to 20%, but it makes keeping grays gray easier. I often make so many versions of one picture that I start to hate it.

I found a silver X100F last Saturday at my local Best Buy and bought it. I always wanted to try one, but took it back today. Love the color output and overall design and build quality, but don't care for its ergonomics or zone focusing capability. I decided to stick with my GR. Perhaps a GR III will arrive soon.

Hey all. This is my first post on the forums here, but I've been lurking for awhile. I started shooting digital when I picked up a fuji x10 to take on a trip to Cape Town, South Africa. I sold that not long ago and just yesterday took delivery of my new/old X100. Here are some sample shots from my first time out with it.

Thanks John! Got another one from the same platform looking the opposite way. If only that damn building in the background wasn't so prevalent....

I think it appropriate to use photoshop in this case. If only we could photoshop him and his band of cronies the f*ck out of the White House! Oops, sorry, just excited about that wonderful feature of photoshop!

And nice pic by the way! David
