Nikkor S.C. 8.5cm 1:1.5 Photos only

I was looking for a long time for this very lens - finally I got one thanks to a nice RFF friend

… so, why not start a thread for all Nikkor S.C 85/1.5 shooters out there, just name the version and camera used and post away your photographs with this marvel!

Some first shots are on my blog here:

Tried an S-mount version, two years ago, price of the lens was JPY270000 (including oily aperture blades ....)

This one was with the Nikon SP (Fujifilm Pro400H converted to BW)

(Sorry for linking this one, Jon! )

Gabor, I saw this one on your flickr, when searching for info on this unicorn - the lens, not Jon that is - hehe
It's amazing, how sharp the eye is! My sample has come, not been calibrated properly. I will work on that soon.

Here is a few more from day one:

Other than ZenShooter who already sold his copy, I don't know of anyone else who shoots with this lens. So it may be a lonely thread... much like my Nikkor-O 2.1cm 1:4 thread

But I'm enjoying your pictures with this lens Dirk, so keep 'em coming!

You are not alone. I have 4 sets and use them occasionally. A very nice lens, just like the Zeiss Biotar 75/1.5.

Cool photos, Dirk. Consider sharing in flickr's M-mount forum, please: http://www.flickr.com/groups/8673143...kon85mmf1.5LTM. The tag would be "Nikon 85mm f1.5 LTM". Thanks,

Roland.

Nice thread! What about merging the two into "least used but most spectacular Nikkor lenses" ?
I hope, more people show up and share something with those lenses! What's the point in having them, if not using?

Nice! Please post some photos and maybe also some insight on the different lenses (differences, mounts, history ?)!

Nice Vick - you must try it on the M9 - it's a real beauty + it is actually the lightest and most compact of the commonly known super fast 85mm, making it an ideal user ;-)

How do you guys find the behavior with your Nikkor 85/1.5 in regards of flare?

Here is a shot from a few days ago:
scooter rider - flare by teknopunk.com, on Flickr

I am actually not a person, who dislikes flare (as long, as it's beautiful and very lens specific flare).

I find so far, that the Nikkor behaves well, except of course, when used directly into very bright light sources, as here or in the construction site shot above.

For the fact, that it is a 60 year old lens with a huge, exposed front element, it looks nice ;-)

Today's blog post is all about the construction at night in Shanghai - I used only the Nikkor 85/1.5.

A deep night low light shoot is always on my list with every new lens, be it a slow wide angle or a tele lens. Given the M9's abysmal low light performance (compared to pushed Tri X), the Nikkor 85 would not be my first lens choice, but it worked.

Here is one from the same night - haha:

Wow, that is a very neat shot, with what the lens did with the back-lights.

Some really fine photographs here. My favorite is of the old man (the very first photo).
This lens performs very well in your hands.

Yes, I really want to explore this more, but it seems, it's a very special shot with the light indeed hitting at it's strongest into the lens at a specific angle.

It doesn't do this with plain regular light sources like street lamps, stoplights and alike.

Thank you certainly ;-)
i was just lucky, I was in midst such an interesting scene - the gentleman was quite a character to see in the market with his walking stick and Qigong balls.

I saw similar behavior from my Canon 85/1.8 LTM lens with hard sunlight from above and in front of the lens. Gotta use a deep hood with these lenses.

The 85/1.5 is on my list of "someday, maybe, if I'm really lucky" Nikkor LTM lenses, along with the 25/4 and 50/3.5 Micro-Nikkor.
