Saturday's garage sale find

For $34 total, I bought a pair of Rega 2way loudspeakers, a big heavy pair of Cerwin Vaga 3way AT12 loudspeakers, and a Pentax K1000 with 50f2 lens.

I did say I was done buying photo gear, but this was better than free, right?

The CV AT 12's were a good find. I love mine. My neighbors hate them.

A "free" SLR with a sharp lens is always a great find - it just could be the only camera you'll ever need

Maybe my definition of done is different. If a great deal on a classic camera comes along for a little money, I'll still buy it, if only to resell. But I'm not in the market to spend hundreds of dollars on another camera or lens, nor am I looking online.

Congratulations Frank...

Hey I bought a Canon AF35M at an antique store the other day for a dollar! It pays to pay attention...

Which Regas did you find? I still use an set a Alyas from the 90s but I've been looking for a set of Juras to replace them since I moved into a much larger space.

Did the evening go like this:

He showed you his finds before dinner, then you went hungry (loss of appetite)

He showed you his finds after dinner, you then excused yourself and went and threw up!

Angry found nikon gear...

We were outside just after a BBQ and he was showing me his new guitars - he has recently got back playing and has bought a new Fender and an Avalon, and an old Les Paul (? I know nothing of these things) I took a few shots of him playing and his wife said "You should show Gary the camera stuff you found"

I was dumb founded, offered to buy it from him, but he has decided that he was meant to have it in some sort of cosmic way, so he holding onto it- for now...

Question: if you found a vintage Gibson Les Paul gold-top guitar with original humbucker pickups, would you offer it to your friend, or would you buy a copy of Mel Bay's "Modern Guitar Method" and try to learn to play it yourself?

You should offer your services as a knowledgeable camera guy, and give your friend help and advice on how to get the best out of film photography. He will soon know whether fate has foisted upon him a true passion for photography as well, or he will grow disinterested and decide to part with the Nikon gear. Either way is good.

Oh I know he will eventually part with the camera gear - so I bide my time
He is off to Portugal for 2 months - so maybe I will offer to "look after it " for him...

To be honest I wouldnt know where to start with a guitar, but I can look at the avalon and admire the workmanship, it is a stunning object..

These Regas are quite vintage. No model info on them, but came across this doing web search. These are the same as mine. There is a link to a picture and some background information.

They sound good. I'm very happy with them, and my teenaged son loves the Cerwin Vegas!

I think, FrankS still is clean - for the price he paid, camera is just a ballast to fill up space in trunk to keep audio stuff from rattling around on his way home

with cameras I've held onto a significantly larger portion of my "finds" than other things.

I've flipped a ton of kinves, a lot of pens, no cameras and only a few lenses. I've got a contax 50/1.7 I was going to sell, I don't even have a film camera for the thing, AND I've got a ZM planar and I still haven't gotten rid of the thing.
