CL Shutter issue....
Hi...
I just ran into an issue with my CL... the shutter only fired upon releasing the shutter button, not upon depressing it.
I was replacing the battery with a WeinCell MRB625 (PX625) and trying to do a battery check. The battery didn't seem to work, but when I fired off a few dry frames, it seems to have done something to the shutter.
I've tried without any batteries but it still will only fire upon releasing the button...its almost acting like a mirror-lock up.
Any ideas guys?
Thanks,
Chris

It happens sometimes with LTM Leica's too.
The camera needs to be opened up and gentled cleaned and re-lubed.
Maybe it will work properly if you fire it a bunch of times, but that would be an unreliable cure.

Firing it a bunch of times cured it!
It just came back today CLA'ed from Don at DAG...it fired ok out of the box, but after changing the battery, it did something to how the shutter releases.
Keeping my fingers crossed it will stay fixed

Probably a coincidence. The battery has nothing to do with the mechanical shutter.

Wow, okay, great that it works.
I can't imagine that the shutter release travel is so sensitive that changing the battery would affect it. Maybe a taller battery is making the back not engage as far, and that is affecting the rewind knob, which in turn is affecting the shutter release travel.
But, I'm guessing.
Glad it is working.

You may be on to something... The newer WeinCell battery is slightly taller...

1-6-8, Hopefully it's still working fine.
Did you let DAG know you had a problem/ (Just for the record.)

The camera went back to DAG a few weeks ago as it continued to act up.

I'm sure it's not the battery as I sold one awhile ago with a weincell battery and shutter worked fine.
I would think that something is not catching when pressed in order to activate the shutter properly

Probably some dirt or whatever left on that part. It happens ... Don will make it right. :-)
