Mr. Flibble, I have been following your photo stream as well, a lot of vintage looks on your photos. Thank you for sharing. Well done!

A bit off topic, would you mind sharing which hood you use on the hektor 5cm? Thanks

Thanks Dennis,

I use a Leitz FIKUS hood myself, but any other A36 push-on or clamp-on hood for 50mm lenses would do.

THIS IS A NICE THREAD ON THE 50/2.5 Hektor which is getting difficult to find and acquire.

I found that most Hektors available were in poor condition and most were scaled in METRES.
Never one to give up easily I recently managed to find my "dream" lens a Nickel "11 o'clock- Bell- push" rangefinder- coupled Hektor scaled in FEET in wonderful original condition and from it's serial no. it was made in 1932.
The "11 o'clock Bell-push infinity lock rangefinder-coupled version" was made for the then new Leica II in 1932.
It is now permanently attached to my early "Lavatory Seat" Black and Nickel 1932 Leica II.

I have a Black & Nickel Leitz "Fikus" hood but also I tried this alternative, which was suggested, made an ideal hood for the 50mm f2 Summar. It should therefore also fit the Hektor without vignetting.
Get a Leitz SOOGZ adapter ring which converts an A36 filter fitting lens to a E39 filter fit. Then mounted a Leitz E39 UVa filter to the adapter ring and then screw in a Leitz 12549 hood, made for the 50mm f2.8 Elmar, then you can use an A42 lens cap ( Leitz 14268) to protect the set-up when not in use.
If you don't use a filter (like Erik) just screw the Leitz 12549 hood into the SOOGZ adapter and mount it on your Hektor.

Leicashop in Vienna, Austria seem to have 2 Nickel Hektors scaled in metres on offer. These are the first offerings of Hektor 50mm's for many months. They will probably soon disappear to collectors shelves which is a shame, because they are nice useable lenses.

Yeah, sorry, one of my image hosting providers has screwed up an update.
I can probably transfer them all to my old site...but that needs an overhaul too.

Looking forward to more of your Hektor photo's, Garrett.
Also the use of your Hektor for close-up / macro shots gives lovely soft and appealing results in colour.
I am just awaiting the arrival of a Novoflex Leica screw to Sony Nex adapter for my Nex 5 then I will have a try at some close-up shots with
my Hektor lens.

Garrett,
This is my first attempt to do some close-up shots using my Nickel 5cm f2.5 Hektor with a Leica HEPET N0.3 Hektor fitting close up lens using my Nex 5 with Novoflex adapter. Taken hand held at 1/30th @ f6.3.
(I have not mastered FLIKR yet to get bigger images posted on RFF).

Hmm, my old posts with links to the broken website have been removed. That's going to make it hard to remember what I'd posted here. Was going to update them with the links to the new WIP website.

Guess I'll just have to post some random Hektor stuff now.
