One thing I learned from this - it is possible to work a remote release cable with one's teeth.

confederate rose, x100, tripod, natural dreary light, photos made over 24-hour period. chinese hibiscus, known here as confederate rose. the story has it a young csa soldier lay dying near a pink blooming hibiscus shrub, and his blood watered the shrub, turning each blossom as it died blood red. each blossom goes from pink to dead red in 24 hours. :

the fresh and the dead; 24 hours makes a difference:

The newly opened Statoil building near Oslo, Norway. Statoil being the national Norwegian oil company.

This was a series that jumped out at me on the weekend. It wasn't what i intended for the project in the beginning but it worked out.
I wondered past this old garage and decided to take a few shots of it and its details. When i walked away it got me wondering when it was last opened and what was behind the doors...

Joe, we're on until end of month, correct?

Assuming so, here are my five, these were taken recently in an alley in Ardmore, PA

All taken with IIIf/50 collapsible summicron, XP5 processed with Jobo kit at home. This is my first try with this film, I am surprised at how well it works in low light.

Something Different

I took this as to be something of a challenge for me - to try to take pictures that I wouldn't normally take, with camera settings that I didn't use. And I hoped that in the process I would learn something!

I think I chose the wrong chocolate bar!

I tried breaking pieces off only to find it didn't break very easily and I squashed the pieces.
I tried cutting the chocolate with a sharp craft tool and ended up in getting little shards of chocolate all over the place. Trying to remove bits with a fine paint brush was hopeless so I gave up on that idea.
Should I have warmed the chocolate?
Should I have warmed the knife?
Should I have put the bar in the refrigerator before I stated? Should I have chosen a bar with better quality of chocolate?
I think I should have bitten the bar rather than cut it. This would have added some more 'texture' in several photos.
Perhaps if there is a 'next time' I will use a chocolate ice-cream.
Photographically I was reasonably happy - the little Lumix LX1 behaved pretty well at its close setting.

So was the exercise successful?
I was a bit disappointed over the chocolate bar that I had chosen.
I've a bit of tummy ache from eating the bar!
And I wasn't very keen on the taste that I thought was a bit too synthetic.
Fry's original bar had a more textured white filling!

already there are way too many photos that i love in this thread to comment on them all. you all are awesome! RFF needs a Like/+1 button on each post!

one thing that intrigues me the most, though, is seeing how some people chose to focus on one specific subject and tell its story-- something i totally hadn't thought of! very cool.

I meant to do something with film, but don't really have time at this point.
Also I thought of limiting myself with a roll of 5 or perhaps 7 frames and just trying to get each shot right the first time. Maybe next time.
For now, 5 digitals (out of 20)

Pioneer Cemetery in Eugene is on my way to work at the university. I often shoot and meditate there. This selection is taken from the many graves of infants and toddlers. I used 5 cameras: M4, Contax G1 (Planars on both), Bronica RF / ETRSi, and a Konica Autorex in half-frame.

Thank you, Zeno, from the shallows of insomnia. Sometimes sleeplessness envies the permanent rest in the grass but when I spend time with those little ones who died so young, I'm grateful for the luxury of a sleepless night in my 60 th year...
