There's a new theatrical trailer out on iTunes for a movie called "Back to 1942". Adrien Brody's with what looks like a Leica IIIc with a 5cm Elmar at about 37s into the trailer, and I think unlike most other movies, he seems to be holding it "right".

On the current story arc on "Parenthood", Ray Romano plays a professional photography. In the scenes in his home studio, there are many vintage cameras on display, including Leicas.

His mum (Sylvia Plachy) must have something to do with it.

I'm not sure about that. I just watched the trailer but saw that his right palm was not under the bottom plate as Leica instructed (and feels most natural to me). Maybe their is another clip where he holds it correctly, offsetting the downward force of the index finger with the right palm.

How do put your right palm under the camera and still be able to manipulate the shutter release?

Big hand I guess. Seriously, the right edge of the baseplate is nested on the thumb part of the right palm, index finger extended up and over to the release, and rest of the fingers curled in the front.

I suppose that'll work, probably be awkward ( especially if the left eye happens to be the dominant one).
Thank you for explaining.

It is exactly the grip that is demonstrated in the Leica IIIf manual. :-)

Well, that's how I hold them. Having the heel of the hand underneath enables us to "squeeze off a round," minimizing camera shake.

Too bad it sounded like a DSLR, he didn't advance the lever, and had a continuous shooting feature. Still cool to see though
