It doesn't look like that good a deal to me, if you add up the average prices for each item. Figure the body is worth $150, the 135mm $75, 50/1.8 $150, 28mm $325. So you're at 700 dollars. The rapidwinder, cases, and finders aren't worth much.

So for $800 for the price plus shipping you are paying close to top dollar for each item, without knowing the lens condition and if the shutter is working or has holes. Usually when you buy a kit, you get a better deal because you are spending a lot of money all at once, so the package price is lower. You could probably piece together this kit buying individually for less than it's buy it now.

Just the opposite. The rapidwinder alone will go for around $300.00 USD. Viewfinders can also be worth a lot of money. Cases too, can bring top dollar if in excellent condition.

The listing is pretty sparse on details about condition. Heck, I don't see anything stating what the 50mm lens is (which could swing the price of the kit by $100-200).

I'm all for discovering bargains but this is a bit of a gamble unless someone contacts the seller to find out what all is actually there or to get better pictures.

Edit: I assume the OP is talking about http://www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-IVSB-E...item20cc601d99

TIME IS MONEY!! In the car biz they sit on inventory based on the comment above... a Butt for Every Seat.

Sure, you could piece it together cheaper, but sometimes money is not the issue. This a complete kit and there is a "butt" out there who places some, or perhaps considerable, value on making his fantasy come true with one sale.

Those of us who make our living by "billing hours" approach all our acquisitions from that perspective. For us, there is no such thing as free time. We may give some time away, but that is philanthropic at best. Every hour has value.

I can make more money working for others for the time I would spend to chase down this kit in individual transaction. I suspect that running down all those pieces, closing deals, paying shipping for each and so forth would amount to $200 to $300 of extra value in the fact that it is all there and ready to go.

Some people always buy too high, but I wouldn't. And quoting a recent high sale as an average is a mistake. 35mm camera prices are dropping like flies. For every one that goes for a lot, 10 more go for under $200.

330786460921 $168 with a Rapidwinder
130749861398 $200 with a 1.9 lens
230843780902 $199 with a Rapidwinder
200813070649 $197
170881437137 $188 with 1.8 lens
180934176196 $179 with original flash

....and on and on....just the past few days.

As a freelance consultant, I know all about billing hours, and "time is money." I also know a lot of people "can't be bothered" with price checking and throw any amount of money at anything they "want right now."

If you'd like, I'll sell you my IVSB body for $350.

I would expect more details in the auction description before buying such a set.
If the lens had been a 50/1.5, it would be tempting.

Suggestion: let it go.

Canon kit

Thanks for adding the link .
Yes you can always find bargains on canon camera , I'm sure you can put a kit together for cheaper ,
The lens on the camera appears to be the 50 1.8 so not the most valuable .

There was a Nicca earlier today that was a similiar price with three nikkors ,
They were the least desirable 35/3.5 50 /2 135 /3.5 , the finder was off brand

There are some deals on eBay , sometimes you can find cheap buy it nows or mislisted / ending at bad time ones .
The prices listed that seem low are probably correct , suprised that you consider the rapid winder and finders of little or no value .
That was the only thing that made the kit decent enough to post here

There IS a Serenar 50f1.5 in that post linked to.

Edit: Sorry, no. Just a manufacturer's description of what the normal lenses are for that body.

Yeah, I guess I'm not saying it's a horrible deal, just not a great one. And finders, cases and accessories like the winder are worth something, but not as much as lenses and bodies.

I had the same wrong thoughts at first.
