Would you keep this camera?

I bought a Rolleiflex 3.5F camera. I never noticed the two small areas of separation in the lens. The camera is in mint conditon otherwise. The light has to be just right to see the defect.

Would you just use it or return it? Will it get worse?

Thanks

It all depends on how much you paid for it.

$1199.00 with 3 filters, original box w papers, hood & a case that has never been on the camera. The camera does not have a mark on it. If it does not get worse I would keep the camera.

Was the defect described by the seller? If not you should return it..

Separation does get worse. Afterall it started somewhere and has grown..

I never noticed it at the shop. I do not even think they saw it. Should I just ask for an adjustment & use the camera?

Asking for an adjustment is a good idea ... but how much? If that separation becomes an issue what does something like that cost to remedy ... a lot I would imagine? Might be worth finding out just how much first.

If you paid a retail price, return it and get rid of it.

It is not a rare camera, and the lens flaws will bug you all the time.

If you got it very cheap, then take a test roll and decide if the annoyance is worth it to you.

Focal point told me $325.00 for the repair. I don't think it will effect the photo unless I shoot into the sun.

You have to be nuts to repair it for $325. What did you pay for the camera?

"Effect" and "affect" mean different things.

Sounds like u plan to shoot with it until u need to do the repair.

Lens separation can get worst over time as others have said... The cost of the lens repair is not going to stay that price.

Gary

Ps. I forgot to mention.. If u have a warranty period from buying it from a store, c if they will do the repair work.

Here is keh reference point on ex grade version - slightly over 1200, which this camera is not given the lens defect. Lol, the new keh grading policy could have read body excellent, glass bargain or ugly.. I really Hate the new keh grading policy ..

http://www.keh.com/camera/Rollei-Twi...990043530?r=FE

Bargain grade as low as high 700 range.

Gary

If the camera is nice condition keep it, but with one proviso. The seller refunds the $325 it takes to get the problem fixed (plus hassle and postage say $50-75).

If not get a full refund and buy a better one.

Keep it but get a price adjustment that will at least cover the repair. However, I think you will not notice the separation at all -- I have separation in a 2.8F that is worse than that and I can't see that it makes any difference. Of course you should use a hood.

At this price, you should get a better 3.5F. I would return it for full refund and keep searching. If it bothers you now, it will bother you to the very end.

If I get it at bargain price (like <500) then I will just try to live with it.
