Sony announces a Nex-6

If this has been posted before, let me know and I'll tear the post down: http://photorumors.com/2012/09/11/so...press-release/

Seems the Photokina announcements are getting under steam!

Sony is really starting to pump out some amazing digital gear. The RX1 is the one that has the WOW factor going for it.... full-frame sensor in a small m4/3-sized body!!

Hey congrats!!!

Re: your son's wedding - are you going to try to sneak in a few shots as an unofficial photog? Or just be the proud father?

Yeah, with this price point, probably 80% if not more of NEX-7 and 35mm lens, i am leaning toward this vs. OMD. Now, the IBIS.....hmm

That's a pretty sweet little machine. Includes the Nex 7 finder, which is darn impressive.

i reckon i could be happy with a nex-5n and that new 50-equivalent lens, assuming the IQ approaches that of a pentax-m 50/1.4. my grandchildren appreciate the little extra distance required by the 50 FL ...

Too many cool digitals to take in (and more coming), for sure I will sleep with my M3 tonight.

This NEX-6 with the pancake zoom seems the right upgrade for me from my lowly NEX-3. The reasons are: built-in flash and hotshoe, decent EVF, hopefully quieter shutter, faster AF, slightly better sensor. With my manual focus prime lenses, I got the best of both worlds.

It might be the tipping point for me to get rid of all my Nikon APS-C dSLR gear. So far I have been holding out due to wireless flash capability, AF speed, and choice of AF lenses.

Sony is on a roll at the moment.

The 6 looks like a nice sweet spot but I haven't even had my 5N for a full year so I will not be upgrading for some time.

Any more news on this. It looks like a good upgrade from the NEX5, especially if AF is much better.

According to the latest Pocket Lint review, AF might not be that much better than 5N and slightly worse than Panasonic G5 and Olympus OM-D. But let's wait for some firmware updates and other reviews.

From DPReview,

"Note that this hybrid AF technology is not compatible with any of the fixed focal length E-mount lenses except the high-end Sonnar T* 24mm F1.8 ZA. And existing E-mount zooms will require a firmware update."
