Black Repaint M2
chrome/nickel/brass M4 nicknamed 'Buster' and in need of repairs

Super-Angulon 21/3.4
Summilux 35/1.4 pre-ASPH
Summilux 50/1.4 pre-PROD with two-tone chrome
Jupiter-9 from 1951 with Zeiss optical block

The Summilux 50/1.4 came yesterday, it is a 1958 pre-production lens. Obviously they were working to get the chrome on all parts match and on this one it did not do so yet.

The Jupiter-9 came with a Russian handwritten note from the factory, stating that the lens had a Zeiss optical block and it was factory-set to agree with Leica: 83.7mm instead of 85mm. As a result, the distance mark and aperture mark do not line up.

Once the M4 is cracking again, I'm officially done!

Very nice indeed, that M2 looks great and there's really something special with the form of the Summilux 50 pre-asph's barrel.

But that, I fear, won't be true for long

Johans early Summilux is the rare version of the Summilux I with the different focusing grip. The difference is that on the normal version the higher parts of the grip are smooth and the lower parts knurled. On Johans version it is just the other way around.
The two colors of the "chrome" on this lens are normal. This lens is partially made of anodized aluminium and partially of chromed brass.

Erik.

Ha,

it better be, I'm flat out of funds and out of work. So anything I'd like to get will mean somethings gotta go and I'm not willing to let anything of the consolidated stuff go!

Apart from the set shown before I own a Leica II with 2 lenses, a Nikon D3100 with 2 lenses, and Rolleiflexes 80/2.8F and 135/4.0 Tele.

Now, to find some work with them that'll put some bread on the table!

Dual M8's 28mm Hektor F6.3 (1935) and 50mm Summar (1937) both with correct shades for lens.

Thanks Erik, very interesting information........ That was my first and only lens (50mm summilux V1) for the first couple of years when I started to use Leica cameras and lenses.....I don't think I will ever sell mine due to many reasons.....

cheers, michael

Yes, one of the reasons is that it is a very good lens. I prefer it over the version II, wich is free from coma but has a lot of pincushion distortion. The Summilux version I is free from distortion.

Erik.

I always preferred the look of the older XOOIM hood for the summiluxes, you lose a bit of the viewfinder though.
