Looking for feedback

I took these last night with my M9, 50 cron combo and a led light source. My wife wanted some blacked out shots of the babies hands and feet so with camera in one hand, light in another i took these.

i'm not sure if i prefer the darker \ harsher but more detailed ones or the lighter \ softer ones. just looking for feedback, ultimately i like all of them for different reasons. What do you think?

I prefer the darker - a bit more evocative and atmospheric. At least with the hand. I prefer the foot position in the lighter foot photo (2nd from top). As to the last two - they appear both light and are different body parts so no direct comparison can be made (if pushed i'd say I prefer the hand to the foot out of photos 5 and 6).

I tend to like the increased detail of the darker shots, but those also seem to have rather noticeable blotches on the skin that is rather unappealing to me. The lighter shots look much smoother and more even, so I'd go with those if it were me.

EDIT: I don't mean that as harsh criticism. All these are lovely, but if forced to choose that would be part of my thought process.

I'm torn about the detail and the blotches in the skin. on the one hand it should be soft as it's a baby photo... right? on the other the harsh detail and blotches show more wear on the hands and i find that appealing to some degree. thanks for the feedback

Indeed; either choice works.

FWIW, I think the last shot is the best of the bunch. To my eye, it's the most original and playful. I'd be printing that and putting it up in a flash if it were me. Good job!

Nice photos! I like the tones and shadows in #5
#1 looks a bit flat to me, not enough modelling of the shapes
#6 I agree with papercut, it's original, playful and the composition looks great. I'd be printing that one too.
Just my opinion..

Thanks Lynn, I appreciate the info. I think I like the shaping in #2 better between #1 and #2.
