Really, really interesting stuff Roland!

How is the aperture handled?
Is this SLR lens without auto aperture, hence you can use the original aperture control and apertures are set directly with the ring or did you have to do something about the stop down mechanism?

Hi Dirk: the original lens has auto aperture, but the auto control is removed as part of the modification. Now the aperture just follows what you set on the ring.

Roland.

That Cron looks absolutely delightful. I've been toying with the idea of getting one because the asph I have is (wonderful but) sometimes slightly large.

Already own a Zeiss Ikon ZM, Bessa R3m and was considering an M9 but banned myself from anymore digital purchases till post-Photokina.

Decided to pickup an M6 in the interim. Found this beauty in the old camera stores at Champagne Court, TST, Hong Kong.

Man I wish I could find that kind of stuff in my old camera store. The only problem is that my old camera store is long gone.

Problem is that these HK vintage stores have loads of stock that they haven't bothered putting up on Ebay, because they prefer to negotiate prices depending on whether you're a tourist or local regular (or maybe just lack of technical skill). Literally rows of M3 body's stacked against each other. FYI - if you ever end up in HK - the place to go is Champagne Court in TST, several of them next to each other.

One new place I just discovered that HAS put some old stuff online for reasonable prices is 9days.hk. I'm visiting them in a few days to check out their store.
