I had been eyeing this in a local pawn shop for several weeks, and today I finally pulled the trigger. I'd heard that the Nikkormat FTN was built like a tank, but I really did not appreciate what that really meant until I held one in my hands.

The old Praktica VLC2.

Still in existence, though that battery doesn't work since a couple of decades ago. I've recently found the same (very unusual) battery on the net, perhaps I'll give it a go.

My "new" SLR is Nikon FE2, but you've all seen that one (and many have that or similar anyway).

They did not see any service yet except I replaced the seals and foams, as they deteriorated after some 40 years. I find their shutter mechanism more robust than even the classical Leicas.

I used a PX21 in my Practika, it worked fine.

Loving the camera-porn, guys.

Here's mine - she arrived yesterday. I have a roll of Ektar in her now.

I haven't included my fabulous Nikon D40, but, well, all DSLRs look the same anyway.

Got to make a better photo of this ... 1972 Nikon F Photomic FTn in black:

i use it mostly with the plain prism finder and a Nikkor 50mm f/1.2 and Nikkor-H 85mm f/1.8 lenses. Yes, it is a large and heavy piece of equipment ...

I've seen mention of cameras built like a tank...when it comes to tanks this is a real Tiger...

SL MOT by dralowid, on Flickr

...and a little more handy...great viewfinder, one of the best I think.

SL MOT SA by dralowid, on Flickr

My problem is I haven't used it for a while now. Although rare (less than 1000 made), it is not worth a lot.

My son has 'acquired' the 560mm Telyt and converted for Nikon use.

What on earth does one do with it? Seems a shame to sell off the old warhorse!

David, weigh it. My meterless F with a Voigt 40mm weighs about the same as my M3 with a Chrome 50mm Cron.
