IKEA? Is that something I should know about?

thats the way a digital should look like! i hate all this retro-designs, dressing digitals as analog. good design should show the substance.
but more important... how will they name it?? i vote for ulfhildr.

And, the IKEA logo, too, of course.
Will Luigi Leicatime make a custom case for this? How will Ken Rockwell receive this in his first review? How will Fuji counter this? How about a Thumbs Up for this baby? Can it be had ala carte? How will they do on the secondary market? Have you pre-ordered one yet? No, I'm waiting for the next generation.

Am I the only one who saw that picture and thought IKEA is selling a cardboard cassette tape complete with a pen to roll the tape in when it got jammed in the tapedeck.

And the Image stabilisation too.
They call it Knäppa, which means to button (literally) or to shoot (slang)

Knäppa could also be a word play on the word "Knäpp", meaning crazy.
And I actually have one of them!
It's a bit heavier than you expect, especially with batteries in it, and all the pictures you take are locked, meaning you can't delete them directly from device (you have to use the delete function on the camera) and you are hindered to do other stuff before you've unlocked and re-saved them – a bit annoying. The image quality... well, there's isn't much of an image quality. It has an interesting blur characteristic when shot in low light, it looks like it is out of focus when it is supposed to be motion blur. Very strange, dare I call it bokeh?
Anyhow, it's a great little camera for the collection! (And people can't tease me for not having a digital camera anymore!)

Just won one on eBay, excited to play with it!
EDIT: Also after the announcement I bought www.ikeaknappa.com and www.knappagraphy.com, I buy too many websites. What's the equivalent of website gas? DAS? Domain acquisition syndrome?

Well I did something with the websites I bought! Still haven't gotten the camera yet. But it's shipping from Sweden so who knows how long it will actually take haha.
Anyway, if you go to either www.knappagraphy.com or www.ikeaknappa.com (they both go to the same place) I've created a small social network for the camera. I encourage everyone to sign up! Even if you don't have one!
Maybe with enough people we can convince Ikea to sell them at their stores!

does it come with a hex wrench or do you have to supply your own?
---and Keith, when they located your car, which aisle was it in and did you have to re-assemble it?

Going off topic, but fellow electronic musicians will note that this camera is built by Teenage Engineering, makers of the very intriguing but very expensive portable keyboard workstation, the OP-1...

The screws are actually just Phillips with a hex wrench outside. But I'd be willing to bet you can just do it by hand
