maybe it's a fixed lens digi compact with a lens that has been designed to perfectly match an aps-c sensor?
they could introduce a 28, 35 and 50 as 3 separate cameras and have them made to order, kinda like the a la carte program but now u can only choose 1 focal length.

Thanks adrianzg, but don't get yourself in trouble. You might want to host it somewhere else than your own flickr account.
I just love the small one, if it has an APS-C sensor - great!

The X1 looks like it has a removable bottom plate. If it's genuine Leica has gone daft, or if it's a photoshop job the guy who did it had a good sense of humour.

Better yet, it has a winder! It is the new Leica APS film camera - the thing future generations will remember as the comeback and breakthrough of that already doomed format...

[quote=sevo;1129050] it does not even have a knob to unlock the bayonet.
Well, I reckon they've gone back to LTM - hence no need for a lock on the lens - and I also reckon (if it's real) it's a new D-Lux 5.

Funny you mention that... One night I was out in London on a business trip and I actually saw her out, we got talking and friendly, next thing I know she was removing her false teeth and...
It's a plausible design - one that I like. The m9 version looks quite plausible as well - Wouldn't you feel silly if they actually did release this camera on the 9th?

There are advantages to women with false teeth (when they're without them).

shudder, shudder (in regards to the false teeth, not the camera).

Probably the circular thing on the X1 (where the winder should be) is the pop-up flash... since it says there is a pop-up flash.... at least pictures with flash won't be a "head-on" thing
edit: never mind

On the grey camera: With the current top, it looks like a series I Leica.
If that grey camera would have the option to mount an external EVF, it should be 3/5 of an inch high and run from the hot shoe to the edge of the camera. Two 'windows' on the front and the EVF one on the rear would make it look like a Barnack top housing and it would be one sweet camera, even better retro than the EP-1.

The "X-1" looks like it uses the same pancake lenses as the Panasonic Micro-4/3rds cameras... Makes sense, given the cooperation between the two.
As for the "M9" it looks pretty much like a releathered M8 with one digit changed. On the outside, anyway...

At least the Panasonic GF1 is real. And it has a removable EVF.
There is a hands on preview on DPReview.com

By the relative size of those strap lugs, that X1 has got to be a tiny camera.
