I have come to like grips, and have them on all my cameras for which I can find them. Some like the CLE grip have the added advantage of a strap lug, and I do prefer vertical carry over a shoulder. The CLE grip isn't all that common, but a couple years ago I found one for my original CLE that I bought new, and a few months thereafter I lucked into a used CLE on eBay that came with a grip too... very pleased to be well fixed for grips!

I know im in the minority in not liking grips, I just feel they increase the size of a camera im trying to keep compact. I even had to special order my Luigi cases without the slight bump grip! LOL

OK, I will be on the lookout for a used/abused scratched or dented (i.e. cheap but functional) ZI or similar grip.

occasionally used grips pop up here in the classifieds, maybe post a wtb ad as some folks like to try a grip and then discover it's not for them and the grip goes into a drawer.

Unusual combination, does the lens block the rangefinder window? How do you deal with the lack of 50mm framelines with that lens?

I know the better solution to use this lens is to get a ZI/Hexar RF/Leica M.

Unfortunately, I only have CLE....
I will find another body for this lens someday.

When I put hex 50/1.2 on CLE, it comes out 40mm frame line.
For me, it's easy to guess the 50mm view.

Yes,it blocks rangefinder about half and is really hard to focus at first.

But once you get used of it, you'll find it isn't that hard.

In my defence, I had my CLE for years before I had anything digital and used it a lot. It has also served as a gateway drug for my recent Leica habit

The CLE does not get used so much now but I can not bring myself to part with it.

The D300 however is in a class of its own for macro.

Your're a fortunate guy! That looks really nice... I've used both those lenses on my CLE also.

I finally found a body for the Rollei Sonnar. After some days with the CLE I have to say I love its size and handling.

With Angenieux 50/1.5 S21 original LTM...

CLE+ noctilux 50/1.2

both angenieux S21 and nocti 50/1.2 can be used on CLE and won't block the rangefinder.

Here's my version of it. The lens(es) should be black, I know. But the other one at the rear was the first one...

My CLE wears a leicagoodies.com sling as do all my RFs. I'm addicted to that system--safe, secure, cheap.

Just be sure to take off that easily lost deco ring around the rewind lever, clean the threads of it and the mating surface on the body, put a little Loctite on the threads of the ring and screw it back on tight. I've seen a lot of CLEs w/ missing deco rings! You're SOL to find a new one if yours is missing.

Dear Michael, Sorry that I just saw the question.

The hood is not a dedicated hood by Minolta. It's a generic hood for 40.5mm thread. I got the hood from Japan and It's a perfect match for the 40mmm Rokkor.

Just picked this up today, a little overpriced, I feel like, at 60000 yen, but I needed something to replace my M4.
In fact, so far I think I like this camera better than the M4. Much smaller (especially with the 40mm), AE'd, and I can actually see the 28mm framelines, unlike the 35mm lines I can't see on the M4 because of my spectacles..
I'll just pray that nothing will go wrong with it, so far it seems to be functioning perfectly, I haven't gotten a roll back yet but shutter speeds are all spot on and the meter reads well. Everything's extremely clean, should be trouble free for at least a year or two right?

edit: oops picture didn't work. posting again. also, this one with the XA I also picked up today

Congrats on that clean-looking CLE, disco! Seems to me 60000 Yen is pretty reasonable for camera and lens. The compact size and east-to-see 28mm framelines are definite advantages. Enjoy!
