Ash, check here: http://www.archaeoastronomy.com/2007.shtml .

For the UK and Europe, Asia, Africa and Australia, it's on March 21.
For the US and Latin and South America it's a day before, on March 20.

But we'll stick to Wednesday March 21, 2007 for this project. To keep things simple.

With little more than a month to go, I'm getting excited about this project!


Here are a few details that are on my mind:

- How will the picures be submitted initially? (Web-friendly jpegs posted to a dedicated RF Forum gallery?)

- If the book idea comes to fruition, what image format/size are we planing to submit? Where should the images be emauliled/posted?

- Could we make it a requirement for submissions to indicate the time (approximate is fine) that they were taken?

- Since the remarkable feature of the equinox is the balance between daytime and nighttime, I'd like to encourage as many people as possible to take some shots in the wee hours of the morning, as well as late at night, to have a good representation of the entire day.

I've been thinking about joining since the project first started but I wasn't sure if my photos would be up to par with the more experienced shooters here. However, I think that this would be a good learning experience for me so please count me in.

Image quality has little to do with this project.
This is about shooting.

And if it ever comes to a book (or something bigger), don't be shy.
We all started out with nothing, and we all (hopefully) keep learning new things over time.

WHAT: a "Shoot all day" event

WHEN: Wednesday, March 21, 2007, a.k.a. "Autumn" (or "Spring" depending where you are) Equinox

WHERE: anywhere on this planet

WHO: anyone who is able and willing to spend some time (the more the better) on March 21, 2007, to shoot pictures for this worldwide event

WHAT CAMERA / SUBJECTS / TECHNIQUE: this is all up to you. Anything goes (well I mean, as long as it is legal, it will be alright ;-)

WHAT DO I DO NOW: just post to this thread, telling us "you're in" - or something like that

WHAT DO I DO AFTER THAT: just wait for the day to come (3/21, 2007) then shoot as many pictures as you can that day, and submit your best ones (you'll be your own judge here). In the meantime, watch this thread from time to time, to learn about the details and/or to participate in the preparations phase

WHY: to be shown in galleries in as many places as possible, to be published in a photo book, to be part of a worldwide event and to benefit charity (on which we will decide later on, in a poll)

With a new baby you'll have plenty of time! You'll have to get up at night to feed the baby anyway.
