poll? turnaroundtime M8 upgrade in Europe
Hi all, my M8 is in Solms since December 18, customer service told me I would get it returned the first week of this year....(please please)
It would be great to from others if and when/ how fast they had their M8 returned from the fix.
So please help me to get some clarity in this and post the dates you sent your M8 and if you got it returned the returndate.
That will give us all an idea of how long it is going to take..
I posted a similar thread on LUF but they seem to be too busy with other things.

Just to keep you in the loop, my M8 arrived in solms on December 27, I called them this morning and my M8 is ready for return!!! 
Looking at the working days since the 27thd, this is within the planned 10 day period!!
Compliments from this end to the Leica crew handling this!!

ps will let you know when the camera actually is in my hands again...
(I did send in a TriElmar for service together with the camera, this will need another 2 days, then all is returned to me,can't wait)

I sent mine to New Jersey on Dec. 8, it was recorded as received on Dec. 12, for shipment to Solms, and I haven't heard a word since.

Mine arrived at Leica-NJ on Jan. 2.
I emailed to ask about it. Just heard last night that it went to Germany in last week's shipment - with an estimated turn-around time of 2-3 weeks.

Just a quick post to let you know I received my updated M8 this morning.
so...
Was collected December 18, arrived in Solms December 27, was shiped back on January 12 and arrived today January 17...
No chance to check the camera yet, hope it is okay now, will keep you posted.

Ouch. I would attribute the breakdown to the NJ office. I also don't like it when my e-mails go unanswered. One overlooked e-mail can be understood, but after a few...
I'd ask them again. The Nondenominational Nonworking Season (aka Christmas vacation) got in the way, unfortunately for all of us.

I sent my M8 to NJ on Dec. 13, got a invoice in the mail stating it was going to Germany for repairs. I got mine back Jan. 15.
You might want to call NJ and they will look up where your camera is and what's been done to it so far. I called them a week ago, and they gave me dates that everything was done. I didn't expect it back till next week.
I'm sorry you haven't heard back from Leica. They have always been really good about answering my emails. If you are concerned give them a call.

John Camp - mine went from NJ to Germany Jan. 12 in the same shipment as yours. It's now Feb. 3, and NJ told me last week they've not even received confirmation from Germany that it's been looked at. Mine went for repair and upgrade - it had stopped working.
Did you get a loaner of any kind? Has anyone gotten a loaner? (My "other camera" is a little point and shoot, so I'm really, really missing my M8.)

I received a notice from NJ that it would be a 5 week wait. Whether that was from the time I sent it to them (thus 6 weeks) or not I am not sure. I mailed it about January 25 which would put the return date early March.
