Ben, I've had to shake up my home screen to make room for Mattebox. (IAWriter got the boot; a pity, but real estate is a brutal business.)
How does the ability to share settings work?
This is a beautiful app, BTW. There's an almost tactile pleasure in using it. Thank you for your time and inspiration -- and your courage in going against the flow of increasing app complexity.

Thank you so much, Richard! Sharing settings is a bit convoluted in 1.0, which is something I'm working on simplifying for 2.0. But basically if you call up the Presets menu and then tap the Mattebox.net logo at the top, it will take you to the Mattebox.net website with the current preset applied. From there you can tweet it or copy it.
Hope this helps!

There is a massive update on the way... I'm still working on some of the details, but it should be out in the next couple months.
The current version will work fine on iOS 6, but on iPhone 5 it won't fill the whole screen. But it's still usable... The next version is universal, and will work on all the iPhones and iPads.

I don't seem to be getting the info on the half press feature, only after the shot is taken.
Can anyone tell me if there are settings somewhere I'm missing? This on an iPhone 5 with whatever the current OS is.
Thanks in advance!

Half press locks the focus and exposure.
The rest of the info appears after you shoot.
I do like this app... I recommend watching the short videos on Ben's site for explanations of the interface. I had missed or misunderstood several interesting items.

Appreciate the response Colonel. Appears though your app is not operating properly either;
http://vimeo.com/bensyverson/viewfinder
The video shows the distance scale changing with only a half press as well as an ISO reading before firing the shutter. At least that is my take on the video. While you can't directly change these and shutter speed prior to the shot, they could still be manipulated if you knew what they were and wanted to change... ISO in particular (by pointing the lens to a darker or lighter area, then locking).
But don't get me wrong, I'm happy with the purchase even working as it is. I just don't think it's working as designed on my phone (or yours). Looking forward to 2.0
Anyone's working as the video shows?

Yes, I saw that as well. In another of the videos, it doesn't. And, on my phone it doesn't.
Still cool.

I can't imagine trying to keep an app functioning through Apples OS changes, I have enough trouble as an end user. Hope that happens though, eventually.

I tried it and I have to tell you its pretty neat.
I use it more than the iPhone's default camera app.

I thought at first that I am doing something wrong but after reading your posting ... same in my case. It would be nice to have a working distance scale and shutter-speed / ISO indication before taking the shot.

MatteBox and Hueless are my two favorite iPhone still camera apps. They're fairly similar in use, have slightly different feature sets.
Both turn the iPhone into a serious photographic tool. :-)

Just installed it on iphone5. The half press giving shutter speed and iso is a nice feature. I like the support site also. A great app that I will enjoy using. When it is updated to give full screen on the iphone 5 it will be even better. My go-to iphone camera.
